New social enterprise - Rozo Lab

I’m happy to announce the official beta launch of my new social enterprise Rozo Lab , a design research centre for intrinsic motivation, empathy and mental health.

The last year has given me an in-depth view of and reflection on the challenges in (health)care, youth support and all the hard-working health care professionals. As such, I want to focus even more on making direct impact in these fields, translating academic findings to the real world, and working more with researchers, educators and students.

To allow me to do this, I’ve started this new social enterprise. Rozo Lab will start strong with several impactful design research projects:

  • we are exploring how we can implement wearables to detect stress for people with dementia, working with Fontys Paramedisch, Juridische Hogeschool Avans & Fontys, Vitalis WoonZorg Groep and other inspiring partners
  • we are providing coaching and job opportunities for neuro-divergent students and school drop-outs, enabling these hidden talents to help in meaningful projects while getting employment experience
  • we are eliciting social and playful interactions to motivate people from different generations to help in the design and execution of Voedselbossen (agroforestry), stadsakkers and other social agricultural innovations. We have been nominated for the Eo Wijersstichting landscape innovation award, with MAD emergent art center, Movares, Avans University of Applied Sciences, Wageningen University & Research and Tineke Reijbroek.
  • we are going to connect generations and battle mental health issues by teaching old and new Brabanders to make serious games throughout the Brainport region
  • later this week I can announce another exciting project that tackles implementation challenges in the Brainport healthcare area

I’ll share some in-depth updates about these exciting projects in the upcoming weeks.

If you are as curious and excited as we are, and want to work with us: let me know! We’re always happy to explore how we can solve societal ‘wicked problems’ using the power of intrinsic motivation. Design research, prototyping, evaluations, education, workshops - we would love to work together.

Feel free to get in touch for a quick talk or a cup of tea (or a cold drink)!

Best, Rob

p.s.: I’ll still be working at Games for Health as an expert, but in a smaller role than before. Rozo Lab will also work with Games for Health on design research projects.
